Trap Shooting

Trap and skeet shooting is in its second decade of being part of the King’s sporting programme.

It is open to all students, and they don’t have to have a shotgun.  The School works very closely with the Dunedin Clay Target Club where we hold our practices throughout Terms 2 and 3. The Club assists with supplying NZ Accredited coaches in the sport.

Competitions

There are Interschools held with Shirley Boys’, Waitaki Boys’ and Otago Boys’ High Schools.  As well as these events there is a programme of 6 Secondary School events in the Winter terms around local clubs in Otago and Southland.  This all culminates with the NZ Secondary School champs that are held at the beginning of the Term 3 break.

History

Blake Harvie, from King’s, made the NZ Secondary School Team which gave him entry to the World Championships in 2004 (Open World Champs).
