Trips and Sightseeing

We encourage our international students to get to know the South Island and we value the opportunity to show our students around Dunedin and the South Island.

In addition International students are welcomed on Geography, Tourism and Outdoor Education Trips. These happen throughout the year.  Optional trips are paid for separately. Some of those trips include:

  • Four-day trip to the world famous resort of Queenstown catering for a wide variety of skiers and snowboarders - from beginner to advanced. Ski lessons can be incorporated into the trip cost.  We also visit other popular Queenstown activities.
  • Three-day visit to Mount Cook and Lake Tekapo.  Activities include a visit to Mount Cook, the Tekapo hot pools, ice skating and an astronomy tour to the Mount John Observatory in the World Heritage Night Sky Park.  We have the opportunity to walk up the Hooker Valley where we see New Zealand's highest mountain as well as glaciers.
  • Making the most of the coast.  We take day trips around Dunedin to learn about the city, walk up the steepest street in the world, visit the albatross colony and, as we head north of Dunedin towards Oamaru, we visit the Moeraki Boulders, Oamaru’s historic harbour precinct, Victorian markets and of course plenty of seals and penguins.
